News came out that the Congressional Leadership Fund, a Super PAC backed by Speaker Paul Ryan, is opening a field office in Eastern Washington, and that is supposedly in order to help Representative Cathy McMorris-Rodgers in the next election. That doesn't make any sense! Let’s think about this…
If Cathy McMorris-Rodgers was actually running, why would she need a random field office person from a PAC to poll the community? She has been the Representative for this district since 2005 and raises multi-millions of dollars for both her campaign and the RNC every year, so resources are clearly not an issue. She has been elected 7 times, so why would she need help polling the district to gather data? Would she really admit to being that out of touch with the people that she needs this help understanding them? Wouldn’t a series of town halls do more to let her connect with citizens and their needs, and to restore her image?
I think we need to draw a different conclusion. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers is definitely not seeking re-election, and this PAC is preparing to support the election of a different Republican candidate.
It’s a shame how much money from both the Democrats and the Republicans is being wasted to win an election. They both are concerned with winning, and not with the people they serve. I am proud to be running a grassroots campaign and I will always put Country Over Party.
