Those of us old enough to remember 9/11 will never forget that day. We can clearly recall the details of where we were when we learned of the news of that terrible day, and the events that unfolded are etched in our memories forever.
I was in Lake Tahoe, NV and received an early morning phone call telling us to turn on the TV. We did and watched in horror as the images rolled in. It felt surreal. There was no turning away. In that moment we had more questions than answers, but we knew for sure that we would never forget this day.
From the ashes of the most unimaginable day rose up the best of us. Stories of brave souls, heroes, who risked and gave everything on that day, as well as those who were inspired to sign up for a life of armed service to defend our country going forward.
16 years later, we remember those lost souls and honor the bravery of the first responders. We will never forget.
