My Story

I was a Californian by birth and am a proud Washingtonian by choice, having lived in Spokane County for nearly 20 years. We have an amazing quality of life in eastern Washington and there is no place I’d rather live than right here! I grew up in the east Bay Area until I was 18. In those formative years, I learned a lot of lessons that I carry with me today, such as: entrepreneurship and innovation, an appreciation for agriculture and the environment, and the compassion and understanding for others that comes from living in a multicultural neighborhood.

I am the son of a conservative leaning father and a progressive leaning mother. My dad served as a law enforcement officer in Berkeley, CA for over 30 years before retiring as a Captain. He did every job you could imagine there, from patrol to detective to SWAT. My mom has as big a heart as anyone I’ve ever known! Living with the health complications that come with having lupus, an inflammatory disease where her immune system attacks her own body, she still works tirelessly so that she can maintain her health benefits. Looking back, every success in life I’ve had I can trace back to my parents.

After High School graduation, a group of my church youth group friends and I ventured north to a very small school in Eugene, OR that was formerly named Eugene Bible College. It was great safe place to be out on my own for the first time, and while attending I learned many lessons about servant leadership and my heart for others grew.

Shortly after graduating I moved to Spokane, a place that I had traveled to when visiting friends and had fallen in love with. Moving to eastern Washington is a decision I am extremely thankful for making. Not only is Washington home for me, but my children, Emily (14), Tyler (12) and Dylan (6) have known Washington as home for their entire lives.

The people, more than anything else, were so inviting and friendly that I knew I was in the right place. And the more that I got integrated into the community, the more that I knew that this was where I was meant to be. It truly is a great place to live, work and play!

Other than being extremely frustrated with the state of our politics, I couldn't be happier with life right now! Family, friends, a loving partner, Danica, and a successful career with a wonderful company are all extremely fulfilling. So why disrupt a peaceful life and run for office? Because I am worried about the direction of our country and know that I can make a difference. I am looking forward to meeting with and listening to the citizens of eastern Washington, and working closely with you to build a better tomorrow.
